Facebook Messenger To Kick-Off Mobile Payments System

BANGALORE: The Social media giant Facebook is expanding its services list by looking at introducing a mobile payments system on its messenger app. According to the reports on The Independent, users can add a credit or debit card to their account and send money via messages. Transfers appear as though they need to be verified by a pin.

Apparently, Facebook has been processing the system from a long time and the company has been experimenting with the money transfers from the year 2010 with the help of the third party applications. It is already requesting “e-money” and is permitted to transfer money in the U.S through gaming apps like Farmville.

Facebook’s ‘e-money’ initiative would allow the digital credits to be converted into cash. If approved, the website can initiate this throughout the continent using “passporting” rules that enables online payments across European countries without regulations.
