Digital Transformation Trends for 2016

BENGALURU: Bolstered by the business shift from on-premises to on-demand IT and the increasing power of the customer, digital transformation trends are destined to drive 2016. Business technology investment related to digital transformation (DX) projects will constitute the majority of growth in IT-related markets over the coming years. The disruptive impact of digital transformation is about to be felt in every industry as enterprises ‘flip the switch’ and massively scale up their DX initiatives to secure a leadership role in the  technologically changing economy.

In order to accomplish organizational goals and maintain success in the coming year, businesses will have to focus on innovation, integration and incorporation by implementing cross-functional partnerships, investing in new technology and fostering a culture of innovation within IT according to Rashi Varshney, Express Computer.

Storage with Local Access

Business leaders have been thinking about the sheer volume of statistics and soaring volume of data that they can mine for valuable insights. But the next perspective on data that deserves attention is data velocity—the pace with which data can be gathered, sorted, and analyzed in order to produce insights that managers can act on. Amit Mehta, Country Manager, Isilon Storage Division at EMC India & SAARC, states, “The rapid growth of unstructured data in the data center core and at the enterprise edge is challenging organizations to both manage data growth and find new ways to tap highly distributed data stores for business intelligence and value. The traditional IT pace and approach is limiting success and will make old ways of operating IT irrelevant.”

He adds that solutions like Data Lake, simple solution that offers end to end consistency, the storage needed for local access in a product that is easy to both license and deploy, will evolve the IT landscape to make enterprises operate efficiently, cost-effectively.

Real Time Data Analytics

Talking about the technology trend, Subash Nambiar, Vice President, Oracle India said that whether in India or globally, the CFO wants to leverage the additional channels which were not accessible earlier.

By, harnessing the insights inherent in real-time log data analytics, companies will have faster access to operational and customer data that can enable 24/7 innovation and sustain their competitive edge. Hence, for companies betting their business on software/application platforms, continuous intelligence will not be a nice-to-have, but a must-have.
