Digital Locker: One Place To Store All Your Certificates 'Digitally'


BANGALORE: Are you afraid that you may lose your important certificates accidentally? Here is a solution from the department of electronics and information technology. They have rolled out a beta version of the ’digital locker’; allows Indian citizens to keep all their certificates intact, reports, ET.

The certificates including, birth certificate, caste certificate even university degrees in digital format on online and access them using their Aadhaar card numbers. This programme is considered to be one of the most ambitious aspects of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Digital India Programme.

To try the beta version of the digital locker, user should create a login account at mygov.in using Aadhaar card or unique identification number. The digital locker scheme envisions placing educational, medical, passport and PAN card details of every Indian in a digital form.

The website says, “Digital locker will allow you to securely upload and share your documents anytime, anywhere to authorised users/agencies. The issuer departments will also be able to automatically push the link of your document kept in their repositories.” Maharashtra Government and Tata Consultancy Services together take care of the beta version, digital locker.
