Corning Introduce Photo Print on Glass

BENGALURU: Now you can print photographs on glass. Wondering how? The gorilla glass maker for smartphones, Corning Incorporated has recently launched MASTERPIX fine glass prints, using Corning Gorilla Glass in India. This latest product from the American glass manufacturing giant is already counted as an industry expert for quality printing in U.S., reports IBNLive.

Corning confirms that the MASTERPIX prints will be both scratch-resistant and stain-resistant and will be composed of thin, robust Gorilla Glass and will be easy to clean. UV curved inks will be used to layout vibrant, colorful glass prints.

"We are excited to launch MASTERPIX in India. Consumers in the region can now have stunning photographs that will last more than a lifetime printed on optically clear, stain-resistant Gorilla Glass," said Amit Bansal, President of Corning, India.

A statement from Corning adds MASTERPIX is beneficial to the customers, wedding planners, architects, designers, photographers and so on. MASTERPIX printing is a four layer process where it starts with a primer attached to the backside of Gorilla Glass. Then the image is printed with UV-cured inks on the primed layer. White ink is added on the image for opacity and lastly the addition of anti-splinter film makes the image scratch resistant and protects the glass in case of breaking.

The sizes of MASTERPIX print ranges between 4 inches by 6 inches to 55 inches by 48 with two glass textures–matte and gloss respectively.

To get picture printed on MASTERPIX, users need to go the company’s official website and place an order. They can upload the image to be printed and make payments, whereafter Corning will deliver the final MASTERPIX image printed on their Gorilla Glass to the client’s doorstep through courier service.

Till now, 4.5 billion electronic devices have been covered with Gorilla Glass around the world.
