Apple To Put An End To Cracked iPhone Screens?

BENGALURU: Apple has been granted a patent to reduce the damage on an iPhone or iPad in case of an accidental fall, protecting the screen from cracking. According to the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO), the company has designed a system where the device can automatically reassemble itself by changing the angle of its last impact on the ground, reports Times of India.

Apparently, Apple’s patent filing describes a device "comprising of a motion sensor and a processor that detects when the electronic device is in freefall based on information from the motion sensor." The company also alleges that the processor will "alter the centre of mass of the electronic device by moving the mass in the protective mechanism in response to detecting the freefall of the electronic device."

Fundamentally, it means that if an iPhone slips from the hand and with the possibility of a crack, the device will change its orientation in the fall so that it lands on its side or the back.

However, this new system may be introduced in the forthcoming phone models. There was a rumor which stated that sapphire displays are going to be used on the iPhones but the plan was eventually dropped later.
