Apple To Open First Off Shore Technology Development Center in Hyderabad

BENGALURU: Silicon Valley technology giant Apple has recently made an important announcement, which could strengthen its ties with India. The statement coming from Apple’s management states that they have decided to open a technology development center in Hyderabad, a first of its kind outside the United States. Tech2 reports that the decision from Apple comes after both Google and Microsoft opened their respective Technology centers in India. This is a testimony to the country’s rising strength in work-force and think tanks in the technology field.

It is worth noting that this news has surfaced after Apple chief financial officer Luca Maestri claimed that Indian smartphone buyers' appetite for this device has grown over the time. Even earlier, The US-based technology major had regarded India as a high potential market.

According to a ZDNet report, the facility, which will create about 4,500 jobs would be constructed over an area of 250,000 square feet in renowned real estate firm Tishman Speyer’s Wave Rock facility at Hyderabad’s IT corridor. The tech centre will share space with top IT companies such as Infosys, Wipro, Microsoft, and Cognizant in the IT corridor. It should be noted that Tishman Speyer’s properties include the iconic Rockefeller Center and the Chrysler building in New York. Apple will be investing 150 crores initially with the centre expected to open in June 2016 and start full-fledged operations by the end of the year.
