8 Ways Fraudsters Could Dole Out Your Money
Stick Keys Technique
Sticking keys with industrial glue is one method that is often used. Before you enter the ATM centre, the scamster will apply industrial glue to the keys, after inserting the card you will be unable to process your transaction because of stick keys and cannot even cancel it.
Next to obtain the PIN, he will be ‘shoulder surfing’ behind the user and in that way the secure code that only you know is now out. As soon as you leave, he/she will scratch the glue away and enter the PIN and withdraws your money.
To avoid this kind of fraud, do not leave the ATM premises unless your transaction is cancelled or call the branch manager and wait until help arrives.
Physical Skimming
The place where the user inserts the card, there will be a small cam scanner attached to the card slot that goes along as a part of the ATM, but not. With this the ATM card number and other necessary details can be obtained and used in transactions where there is no need of ATM PIN for fraud. Also the card can be cloned and the PIN can be obtained by ‘shoulder surfing’.
