Innovation: Addressing Iron Deficiency amongst Women in India

Team Members: Mohammed Hisham Ullah Khan, Shifa Ismail, V Sri Charan, Asfia Yameen and Mohammed Huzefa Moinuddin

Statistics reveal that one in every two Indian women (56%) suffers from some form of anaemia or the other. The team offered a simple solution to this by exposing drinking/cooking water to Ferritin, and what came out as a result was pure form of genius. By heating elemental iron until red hot and then dousing it in water to be used for cooking/ drinking, the body can absorb the ferrous and ferric ions released to cure anaemia.
