Innovation: Piezoelectric Power Generation for Trains

Team Members: Tanisha Sarkar, Ishaan Chatterjee, Suchismita Paul, Arani Acharya and Shaunak Saha

The team from Kolkata, exhibited expertise to generate power using piezoelectric materials fixed in the shock absorbers and coupling dampers of a train to light up train compartments. These can convert electric signals simultaneously produced by running trains. This aims to optimize energy usage, erstwhile reducing the carbon footprint as well as being significantly cost-effective.
