The latest iOS 9 is said to be lightest OS than its predecessor hence it is expected to power older iPhone and iPads. Keeping old iOS device hardware in focus Apple has sorted out a new way of implementing the new OS by ‘app thinning’.

App thinning is the feature that will be useful for old iOS devices because older iOS devices didn’t have NFC facility. Hence the current apps on iOS 9 will modify itself according the device’s hardware specification.
