8 Top Inventions of Teenovators


BENGALURU: Teenovators is a Pan-India innovation challenge for students, incepted in 2011 by Manipal University. It aims to bring together the brightest technological minds from schools across the country within standards 9 to 12 with the object of innovating out-of-the-box solutions to everyday problems.

Teenovators 2015 was conducted in an association with INK, recently. Students from 9 cities and 404 schools around the nation gathered at Manipal University in Udupi, Karnataka to showcase their innovation skills. A panel of five judges evaluated each invention based on the parameter of—idea, solution suggested, scale, replication capabilities, as well as student’s contribution and knowledge.

Students from the Air Force School, Bangalore were adjudged the winners of Teenovators 2015 for their project on “Cloneators”, grabbing a momentous Rs 5 lakh as prize money in the process. Garden High International School, Kolkata bagged second prize along with 3 lakh in cash for their innovation—“Harvesting Peizoelectricity to Partially Light Up Train Compartments.” Bhartiya Jain Sangathan College, Pune came in third for their project on “Electromagnetic Effect on Plant Growth” and picked up a cash prize of 1 lakh. Additionally, consolation prizes worth Rs 50,000 each were given to St Columba's School, Delhi and Iqbalia International School, Hyderabad.
