Find out if someone has read your message:
One gray tick: The message has been successfully sent. Two gray ticks: the message has reached the concerned person. Two blue ticks: the receiver has read your message. Caveat: If someone read your WhatsApp message via a notification it won’t appear as read.
Stop people knowing you’ve read their message:
You can disable read receipts, but this means that you will not be able to see if others have read your messages and vice versa. Tap Settings—Account---Privacy, and you can disable the read receipts option.
Keep mass messages private:
Sometimes you need to message all of your friends without them all replying in a group conversation. In that case, use a broadcast list, which is like BCC’ing on an email. Open WhatsApp--Go to the Menu Button--Tap New Broadcast Lists- Type in your contacts—Create. Each recipient won’t know who else has received the message.
Email conversations to yourself:
Click on the chat/contact name to see contact/group information. At the bottom of the page, click email chat and send it to yourself.
Change Auto-Download:
Save yourself some money in data charges by changing your Auto-Download preferences. Go to Setting--Chat Setting-- Auto--Download. Select Use Wi-Fi for all media downloads. You can also help keep curate your photo library by turning off the Save Incoming Media option.
