5 Futuristic Features Coming From Apple And Google


BENGALURU: Two of the biggest developer conferences, Google I/O 2015 and Apple WWDC 2015, have taken place, and there were tons of new features, software reveled for the general public, however, later this year, people will see a lot more of the offerings from these technology giants. Let us look at what those things will be, as compiled by ET.

Split Screen

Split Screen is the most essential feature of this era, as multitasking remains the soul of this Internet age. Apple announced the new split screen feature at WWDC for new iOS 9. The new feature was a welcome move from the tech giant as a vast percentage of iPad users were waiting for this feature.

App Permissions

Google has given more control to the user over what features, the application will use. This new feature of app permission was long awaited and provides better control of the device in user’s hand. It also brings in  improvements in security as the app will have to ask for using features like microphone, camera and much more.

Improved Maps

Apple has introduced the directions for traffic for selected cities. Google has already implemented this feature long back before Apple. The feature will be available from iOS 9 onwards. Google has also introduced a new feature, which will allow the user to download the map of an area and use it for offline navigation.

Context Engine

Apple and Google both have greatly improved the context engine of their respective digital assistants. Now, Siri and Google Now can search the user’s query in a more intelligent way. Siri stays one step ahead of the user by predicting his next move.

Smartwatch

Apple made a big move by launching the next version for its Apple Watch. WatchOS 2 is more focused on third party applications and comes with more faces. The new WatchOS 2 may make it possible for the watch to work independently of the iPhone.
