5 Hidden Tricks on Android and iOS


BANGALORE: Every Smartphone we buy comes with a user manual to guide and help us understand the usability better. Most of the Smartphone manufacturers don’t write all the features on the manual and at the same time some features as simple as switching a sound profile will be a tedious task when it is not found on the user guide. This sort of complaints are heard from every user irrespective of their Smartphone ecosystem, so here are the tricks that are not found on a user guide for iOS and Android users, reports ET.

Save mobile data on iOS

Mobile data is very precious as they are high priced service and saving it is as essential as saving money. There are many apps on our phone that connects to the internet in the background and keeps using the mobile data and battery. The option to restrict it has always been there but we weren’t aware of it and you can restrict apps from using data by:

Go to Settings > Mobile Data and unselect the option authorized to use data. Also you get an option to hand pick the apps that you want to access internet. By default the apps will access to connect to internet through Wi-Fi data, if you want to restrict that as well, you can do it by turning off the access just like the mobile data.

Temporary iMessages

This trick only works in the iOS powered devices such as iPhones, iPod Touch and iPads. While sending the message on your Apple device, it will automatically take you to iMessages and only this app has the ability to send self-destructing message.

To achieve this open Settings > Messages then scroll way to the option “self-destructing message”. Note: the messages are sent under are sent via internet hence this service to work you should be connected to internet.

Smart lock on Android

It is tedious job when you have to unlock your phone each and every time to wake your phone. To cut down this extra step of unlocking the screen, you can step up Smart lock on your Android devices. The Smart lock has five options to set the criteria to block the lock screen. To activate this feature, go to Settings > Security > Smart Lock, under this you can find different options and you can select any that suits your preference.

Spot a Silent Android Device

There are times we misplace our Android Smartphone and the device will have the silent mode on. Calling the phone will not help here. So type this link on your laptop or PC - http:android.com/devicemanager and login with the similar Google ID as the Smartphone. The option can make your Android device ring loudly even if the device is silent.

Enabling Developer Options

Enabling Developer Options provide some more freedom to tweak your Android device. To enable these options go to Settings > About Phone and tap on Build Number for 7 times, this will unlock the Developer options in the Settings menu.
