4 Pioneers Who Revolutionized The Tech Business

Steve Jobs

The name on a corner office at 1 Infinite Loop, Cupertino, still reads ‘Steve Jobs’, wrote Tech journalist Tim Bradshaw. The office is left unoccupied as a tribute to the charismatic founder.

A bit of an anomaly in this list, it is said that Steve Jobs founded four companies in his life: Apple, Next, Pixar and Apple. In 1997 when Steve Jobs was rehired as the CEO of Apple, the company was nearly bankrupt, and its one time rival Microsoft was the largest company in the world.

One of his first statements on returning, was that one day, Apple’s market capitalization would be twice that of Microsoft’s. Industry analysts were shocked, but by the time of his death in 2011, his prediction had come true.

One of Jobs’ greatest achievements was his ability to fearlessly innovate; at a time when the iPod was smashing sales records across the globe, he commissioned expensive research into the iPhone- he knew that the company needed to be at the forefront of technology to grow, even if it meant sacrificing short term profits.
