BANGALORE: From its origin as a small start up in a garage to a Silicon Valley behemoth, the stories surrounding the search giant, Google  have always been mythic. There’s the popular and plausible myth that the company ‘knows everything about you’ and the more bizarre,  theory that Google is building a device to talk to aliens. Google Means ‘Search’

Search is Google’s most popular product, and is heavily integrated into its other products like Gmail, Google Earth and Google Plus. The firm is so famous for its focus on search, that the dictionary lists the word ‘google’ as verb for searching for something on the internet. It also generates most of its revenue by selling advertising space next to its search results.

However, Google is not just a search company. It’s heavily focused on artificial intelligence; it’s hired AI pioneer Ray Kurzweil and also acquired the analytical company Deep Mind. This new focus will help power its futuristic projects, like self driving cars and balloons that provide Wi-Fi.
