We need to move beyond perimeter defense, to detect, respond and predict attacks through continuous blocking and adapting. Applications need to protect themselves with security people involved at the design phase; and this needs to be supplemented by testing and production diagnostics. This needs to be complemented by systems that continuously analyze user and entity behavior.

Most companies won't build the systems architecture, but rather will build an architecture for applications and services on top of the new systems and designs. Here microservicesare are used with modular services instead of big monolithic applications. This only works well for organizations that are already well-versed in agile and DevOps processes. Another change here is using containers, such as Docker, to move virtualization to a new level.
