12th Std Student Develops App For Engineering Aspirants

BANGALORE:A 12th standard student of a city school claimed to have developed a new smart phone app, which promises to guide aspirants for those seeking entry to Tamil Nadu Engineering courses to pursue further education without any hitches.

The creator, Fiona Victoria of Vidya Niketan School, said that the app 'TNE Counsellor' is designed to help students choose their desired engineering course in a college of their choice and gives them an idea to know where they would land even before the results are out.

The app is totally free of cost and available in all android phone version 4.2 and above, she said.

As opposed to similar apps, this app has features like Cutoff calculator, Counsellor's choice and Favourites, which, she claimed would be the first Android App to deliver such useful information for 12th Standard students in mobile phone.

Once the Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics score (PCM) is entered, the app instantly calculates and gives out the cut-off marks.

After this, the required course, district preference and the community is asked, for which a number of college suggestions are given, depending on the calculated cut-off. The course wise, cutoff wise, district wise and college wise listings are available and presently, the 2014 cutoff mark at various Engineering Colleges/courses under Anna University serves as the benchmark, she said in a release.

In future, there will be yearly updates and the app will be available in Tab and have a website with similar features.

Victoria said she was willing to give tips to aspiring apps designers to develop apps which takes information from database at remote server. This app is available in android Play Stores.
