E-scooter

Electric mobility is the next big thing in India as well as in the rest of the world. In order to make an early presence in the EV market, a Chennai based start-up called Ather is developing a high-speed electric two wheeler for the Indian market.  It is founded by IIT Madras youngsters Tarun Mehta and Swapnil Jain. It is a high-speed vehicle with a top speed of 75kmph and 20 percent lighter than the current petrol scooters, thanks to the battery pack which tips the scale at just 15kgs. This battery charges eight times faster, with the 80 per cent charge being done under one hour.

True Hb Hemometer

India with very high prevalence of anemia also sees a large number of maternal deaths from the condition. Thus student of the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi, Ambar Srivastava, has developed a mobile phone-size hemoglobin meter named True Hb Hemometer which is expected to help identify and tackle anemia effectively. This is the first case of an innovation from the institute's biomedical engineering department actually getting "productized". The device has been validated by the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) for its efficacy.
