Haiku Project

Haiku is an open source operating system that is developed and designed for personal computing. The Haiku has been translated by volunteers into 25 various languages. The OS is built with the basic applications such as email client, calculator, web browser, disc space monitor, text editor, system monitoring tools, audio-video players, printer-webcam drivers and un-archiver (unzipper). Haiku has a deskbar as in the Windows OS and gives access to all the apps and settings within the system. The deskbar can also be moved to any corner of the screen. To download Haiku OS, head over to http://www.haiku-os.org, then download the files and choose to install Haiku by partitioning the hard drive. Then make a live CD, boot from USB or in Live mode.

ReactOS

To have a free operating system which is designed based on the Windows NT design architecture such as XP and Win 7, ReactOS is the one. ReactOS is a free opensource OS and allows most of the Windows drivers and applications work seamlessly. The OS is a better alternative in the form of usage and similarity of Windows. Since, the ReactOS is same as Windows OS, user need not re-learn how to operate the applications without changing the apps.
