2. Messaging app Line launches taxi services

Where China puts a ban on Uber, a Japanese messaging app called as Line is Launching its own taxi service to take on Uber. In October 2014 Line announced that it had attracted 560 million users worldwide with 170 million active user accounts.

Line is partnering with a large Japanese taxi company called Nihon Kotsu, which will provide the cabs and drivers for Line Taxi. Ride payments, however, will be processed through Line Pay.

3. Facebook acquired QuickFire

QuickFire Networks solves this capacity problem via proprietary technology that dramatically reduces the bandwidth needed to view video online without degrading video quality. QuickFire Networks CEO, Craig Y. Lee, announced on 8th January 2015 that they are joining Facebook.

According to Lee, “QuickFire Networks was founded on the premise that the current network infrastructure is not sufficient to support the massive consumption of video that’s happening online without compromising on video quality,” reports Business Insider.
