Pune Girl Wins Google's 'Doodle4Google' Contest 2014


Google prepared a list of 36 doodle from over 1 million entries and the guest judge’s team selected 4 finalists from each of the class groups. One winner per age group was selected based on the pubic voting. The guest judges selected one overall national winner-Vaidehi Reddy. The team of judges comprised of renowned political cartoonist Ajit Ninan, Art Director, Children’s publishing at Ack Media Savio Mascarenhas and google Doodle team leads Ryan Germick.

“We at Google are extremely encouraged by the fact that the entries this year have come from across the country which is clear indication that we are well underway to taking the internet to the next billion,” said Ranjan Anandan, Vice President and Managing Director, Google India.

 “I had gone to Assam in 2011 along with my parents during school vacations. I found the place beautiful as it is rich in terms of both nature and culture. As soon as I heard the theme for Google’s 2014 doodle competition, I made up my mind to portray Assam in my design,” Vaidehi told Newsline.

The other finalists doodle includes ‘The Living bridges of Meghalaya’ by Joel Valentine of Army Public School, Bangalore, Samyak Singh doodle titled ‘Kerala, The Hidden Paradise of India’ of the Sharda Vidya Mandir, Bhopal and ‘Heritage Glorified – Hampi’ by Y Sai Greeshma of Sri Prakash Vidya Niketan, Vizag.
