Olli, a 'cute' driverless, 3D Printed, AI powered Minibus

The Parent Company

Local Motors, the Arizona-based startup behind Olli is in talks to dozens of cities around the world Berlin, Copenhagen and Canberra. As a company which embraces 3D printing for vehicle making, Local Motors in 2014 showcased Starti – that holds the tag as the world’s first 3D printed electric car. “WE AREN’T HERE TO BUILD VEHICLES. WE’RE HERE TO REINVENT THEM.” says the organization’s webpage. Tagged as an open-source car design firm, Local Motors invites ideas and solutions from the public which would then be materialized through their ‘micro factories’ which reduces need for large infrastructure spending while enabling design centers to be revamped as per customer requirement. Local Motors is backed by about 45 investors.

The company in association with AirBus recently invited ideas and design solutions that focus on cargo delivery drones in a medical use case in an effort to seeking a ‘safe, easy-to-operate and affordable drone solution which can be used for many different civil applications.’ As the open challenge describes which offers a main award of 50 thousand dollars along with a trip to the Farnborough Air Show in England and ‘1-of-a-kind’ Cargo Drone Flight Jacket with personalized patch. A 20k and 10k dollar awards follow based on the votes of AirBus executives.
