Is India Ready For Mark Zuckerberg's 'Digital India' Initiative?

There are a few points of views when looking at this initiative. Firstly, as a skeptic, it’s a market strategy for Facebook because without internet no one can log onto the social website, but complete internet accessibility would mean more revenue for the company.

The means through which internet is going to be made accessible will cost tons of money but all around people are still in need of basic amenities. Which problem will be focused and solved first, is the real question.

Literacy:

The Indian literacy is still at the minimal rate. There are states and vast areas of India that still need education penetration. What is the point of internet all over India when children and teens have no clue what the Internet means? This needs to be addressed.

Instead of advancing with creating internet available to all the people of India, there needs to be a parallel importance given to education and internet advancement. There will also need to be localized technology, where apps and websites are created for the local Indians where there are more than 700 languages and millions of communities.

Can they cater to the individual needs of specific race, tribe and tongue? There is a huge belief that they can but must be realistic because this will take a lot of time.

Enthralling new ideas for the young generation:

The present generation is in search of something new and is ready to dish away old stuffs. They need something to new to enthrall them and keep them occupied. Youths of this age are easy distracted but at the same time curious and ready to explore the world.
