Celebrities and politicians took to microblogging site Twitter to congratulate the Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who was chosen for Bharat Ratna hours after retiring from international cricket. Sachin Tendulkar, to be the first sportsman to be honoured with Bharat Ratna, India's highest civilian award, by President Pranab Mukherjee at a ceremony in New Delhi.

Famous Indian musician AR Rahman posted Congrats and love to Bharat Ratna @sachin_ rt on a wonderful career “A new life starts now my friend. Moved by your speech”. Currently AR Rahman has 5.84 million followers.

#7.Virat Kohli

A devastating sense of sorrow shook the world at the sad demise of Australian batsman Philip Hughes. The 25-year-old Australian player, died at the St Vincent's Hospital, where he was battling for life. He was struck on the head by a short-pitched delivery from New South Wales, fast bowler Sean Abbott.

Indian vice-captain Virat Kohli posted on twitter, “Shocked and saddened by the news of Phil Hughes. Horrible day for cricket. RIP Phil and may your family gain the strength to cope.”

Priyanka Chopra who played Indian boxing champ Mary Kom, in her biopic, by the same name. The film is produced by Sanjay Leela Bhansali and directed by Omung Kumar. She also visited the Olympian's hometown Imphal to learn about the boxer Mary Kom’s life.

 Priyanka Chopra tweeted, “Heart.Blood.Sweat.Soul. I've given it my all. Over to you guys now!  #MaryKomFirstLook #FightLikeAGirl...here goes.” She has 8.14 million followers.
