Xiaomi Unveils MIUI 7, Brings In New Features


sdBENGALURU: Xiaomi, China’s giant in making top end spec cheap Smartphones has unveiled its new MIUI 7 which is the latest Xiaomi MIUI ROM officially launched in china. This new firmware is based on Android 5.1 Lollipop operating system which brings design interface improvements, new themes, facial recognition support in photos and a unique roaming app, according to bgr.in.

Using Xiaomi’s new face recognition technology, you can search for images of certain people whose faces can be found in photos stored in the Gallery. There is also a new feature added which includes a separate Photo App for your pets if you are an animal lover. The new OS also brings kids mode which lets the children access the Smartphone but with a limited use. This allows the owner of a Xiaomi phone to restrict what kids can see on the device.

Xiaomi has also added a new video feature that works with your contacts. When a certain person calls your phone, instead of hearing a ring tone a video will play instead. It has also introduced MI Roaming App in its new MIUI7 which works as a virtual SIM Card when you are travelling abroad. This new feature makes the user hassel free as he/she doesn’t need to switch SIM’s regularly while travelling.

The new MIUI 7 will be rolled out this Friday to Chinese owners of the Xiaomi Mi 2, Xiaomi Mi 2S, Xiaomi Mi 2A, Xiaomi Mi 3, Xiaomi Mi 4, Xiaomi Mi Note, Xiaomi Redmi, and Xiaomi Redmi Note. The Global version of MIUI 7 will be unveiled on August 19th in New Delhi.
