Windows 10 to be More Family Focused

BENGALURU: Software giant Microsoft is preparing its Windows 10 PC to be a more family-focused device, states the latest reports and rumors about the upcoming features. According to the reports, the new family account will act as a hybrid hub that will show any user the shared family-wide data after authenticating. The authentication can be performed by using Windows Hello biometrics with facial recognition.

Once authentication is successful, the shared data will be extended to show calendars and other information. After the user sign off, the private data will be hidden away, leaving only the shared data visible to others. The ability to create family-enabled apps with the split level of privacy and authentication will be available to developers as well. The reports says that a new family welcome screen, showing appointments, sticky notes, to-do lists, and similar shared information will be included making even a locked machine more useful.

Cortana- Microsoft's digital personal assistant will play a vital role as family-enabled app. Cortana will have a family mode, currently referred to as "FamTana" internally. The family mode will be able to serve non-personal requests such as weather lookups and news headlines as well as shared calendars, shared music, and so on. As with other family-enabled apps, authenticated users will also be able to use their private data with Cortana. With the Home Hub features, Windows 10 will also become a smart device hub allowing registering smart devices like lights and locks with the PC and controlling them centrally.
