WhatsApp's new Initiative Revolves Around Native Client Apps for Windows 10 and OS X Systems

BENGALURU: WhatsApp has dominated the field of low-cost SMS alternatives with their free system that combines standard phone numbers and a text message-style interface..  The new initiative from the company involves working on native client apps for Windows 10 and OS X systems. This is an expansion to ‘WhatsApp for Web’ service, which helps in sending and receiving messages away from home. A series of screenshots, demonstrating collection of download buttons for Mac and Windows edition of WhatsApp has been shared online by WABetaInfo. Let’s take a glance at a report compiled by TECH2 delving on the latest announcement from WhatsApp.

WhatsApp integrates group chats and calls; featuring end-to-end encryption across the board. The end-to-end encryption helps in ensuring that the chats, messages, and pictures shared by users can’t be read or intercepted by any third-party- such as the government, hackers, and more.

Expanding into first-party apps for the two most popular desktop operating systems is well in line with the operating policy dictated by WhatsApp. The central idea is to help the Windows and OS X clients to work in a similar way as the mobile and web versions do, allowing for logins and syncing across devices using a solitary number.

The company may also add a couple of features more to its service. Moreover, the introduction of a “Call Back” feature in WhatsApp for iOS and Android will assist users in obtaining notifications for a missed call with a call back button. The feature will enable user to dial back without opening WhatsApp. As observed, an array of features have been showcased, for instance, voicemail features for iOS devices. Users are now allowed to send a voice mail during the call itself using the new “Record Voice Mail” and “Send Voice Mail” buttons. The voicemail also shows advanced capabilities like recording and sharing of in-call audio.
