Twitter To Allow Users For Posting Larger GIFs


BENGALURU: As reported by The Times of India, from now on users will be allowed to post larger GIFs on Twitter. The only requirement being that they are tweeting from a PC and not a smart-phone. The California based multinational has increased the size limit for embedding GIFs silently to 15 MB from 5 MB. Although, the users tweeting from their smart-phones will not be getting this benefit and will have to content with only 5 MB. This web-only upgrade is also not available on TweetDeck.

This upgrade is being seen as a welcome move from twitter, as the engagement and impact which a GIF has is much more than a normal image.

Another announcement by Twitter confirmed that the users will now be allowed to add virtual stickers to photos. The users will also be enabled by the new photo editing feature to add tags and filters and crop the images according to their requirement.

An option of adding stickers from the library of hundreds of accessories, emoji and props will be available for every user whenever they upload an image. As told by twitter, the library would be refreshed in a continual way by adding new stickers. Multiple stickers can be used by the users on a single photo, and allowed to put stickers anywhere on the photo.

The time restriction on videos has also been increased by the online social networking service. Earlier, the MNC used to allow users to post videos that run up to 30 seconds. This time frame has now been increased to 140 seconds. Vine, Twitter's video streaming service will also support this upgraded feature. Vine earlier had a six second limit only.
