Prisma to Paint Indian Art with Kathakali, MF Hussain, Thota Vaikuntam and Horn Ok Please Filters


BENGALURU: From the initial stone pillars to the paper and even more in the form of applications, the work of art remains distinct and vibrant even today. The recent trending photo editing app named “PRISMA” is going viral, especially with the iphone users.  With the help of Prisma, users can transform photos and videos into works of art including the styles of famous artists such as Van Gogn, Picasso, Levitan.

According to Firstpost, the latest target of prisma was to include Indian artwork and culture as a theme to the photo memories. Inspired by the classical dance forms and art, the new filters included in prisma are Kathakali, MF Hussain, Thota Vaikuntam and Horn Ok Please. Each filter distinguishes itself with the variety of color palette used and its unique output.

The kathakali filter is inspired by the classical Indian dance form of Kerala. The dance form is rooted in the story play genre of art, distinguished by its elaborate colorful make-up, costumes and face masks. Looking into the traditional themes, kathakali focuses on folk mythologies, religious legends and spiritual ideas from the Hindu epics and Puranas .The kathakali filter in the prisma, in fact promises to deliver the authenticity of the dramatic dance form.

While, on the other hand MF Hussain filter pays tribute to the internationally acclaimed Indian Paintings. His painting narrates vibrant topics including the M.K Gandhi, Mother Teresa and also epics including the Ramayana and Mahabharatha. Like the artist, the filter aims at promising a touch of modernism to the photographs. Whereas, the filters of Thota Vaikuntam’s paintings brings in a touch of simplicity in the painting and the filter will have only primary colors. Lastly, the Horn Ok please, focuses extensively on the phrases painted over trucks and commercial vehicles in the country in varied font and styles. The filter of the Horn Ok Please will have a neon color scheme further giving photos a pop art vibe.
