Nomadix's Accessory for AG 5900 Gateway - SFP+Fiber Module to Hit the Market in Big Time

BENGALURU: The bandwidth demand for high-speed internet access (HSIA) is moving up in the market, as many four & five-star hotels are upgrading their IT infrastructure from copper to fiber. In addition, many newer properties are being built with fiber instead of copper, considering its significant advantages over copper wire. Anticipating the crater meticulously, Nomadix Inc., the California based innovator of public access gateways, announces an accessory for its popular AG 5900 bandwidth management gateway. The two-port enhanced Small Form-Factor Pluggable (SFP+) Fiber Module is a perfect fit for hotels, or other establishments with visitor-based networks, where fiber architecture is deployed and fiber WAN ports are needed. The SFP+ technologyensures optimal performance, lowest latency and low power usage when compared to copper Base-T.

Commenting on the occasion, Fred Reeder, CCO & COO, Nomadix says, “In our discussions with many larger hotel brands and managed service providers, we’re seeing a growing trend of hotels embracing the high-end enterprise capabilities that fiber has to offer. While copper connections will continue to be a part of deployments, there’s no denying that SFP+ technology offers a number of advantages.  Our new Fiber Module supports the copper to fiber trend and ultimately leads to better HSIA performance – which ensures that hotels can satisfy their guests’ expectations.  It’s a win-win for hoteliers and guests alike.”

Equipped with a range of bandwidth conservation & managementtools, the AG 5900 gateway extends a wired or Wi-Fi network to create a public Internet access network – ensuring that the quality of the connection is optimum, though each user gets fair access to bandwidth and that user who pay for a superior connection will receive the same. Bandwidth can be managed by class of user, by group, subscriber or device, or by a combination of all of these.  The scalability of the AG 5900 supports 500 to 8,000 simultaneous devices without any required change of hardware or software design, enabling organizations to add support for increasing numbers of devices as needed.

According to the sources, Q4 2016 will see the arrival of 2-port SFP+ Fiber Module, as a factory-installed option or as a field-upgradeable option. Two transceivers are available: a 10km single-mode datacom SFP+ and an 850nm multi-mode datacom SFP+.  Each transceiver dissipates less than one watt of power and the Fiber Module is also RoHS compliant.

Nomadix came to existence in 2006, which today offers gateways for seamless wired & wireless connectivity solutions across public access networks & enterprises. The gateways have earned a global reputation for unparalleled reliability and ease of management.
