Nextbit Banking On Robin's Design, Free Cloud Storage

NEW DELHI: We are banking upon the unique design and 100GB Cloud storage that comes free with our smartphone Robin in India, a top executive of San Francisco-based NextBit has said.

Cloud computing is the future and unleashing its power on a smartphone is the next big thing and "Nextbit has a style, a voice and a way of doing things that people want to be a part of and emulate," Shankar Parasaram, Head of India Operations, Nextbit, told IANS.

Asked about company's marketing strategy to boost sales in India, Parasaram said: "We are relying primarily on social media platforms such as Facebook and Twitter and online Google ads. We also have an exclusive tie-up with e-tailer Flipkart".

Nextbit is a startup backed by Google Ventures and Accel partners.

NextBit is not planning to release any new device but has rolled out some updates.

"We have no plans to introduce any new device in India as of now. But we will make Robin available in an ember colour variant as well," Parasaram said.

The "Cloud first" Android rectangular-shaped device Robin comes for Rs 19,999.

Robin runs on the custom Android 6.0.1 (Marshmallow)-Nextbit OS and delivers an optimum sound quality from its dual front-facing speakers with audio enhancements by Arkamys.

The device is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor with 3GB RAM and has 2,680 mAh battery.
