New Smartphone App To Keep Track Of Your Lost Pet

WASHINGTON: A new app that helps dog owners reunite with their lost pet by simply uploading photographs of their pooch on smartphone has been developed.

The app named Finding Rover uses facial recognition technology for dogs. Pet owners have to upload a picture of their lost pet, and the app will search the database for their missing dog.

Last week, three-year-old Sergeant, a Siberian Husky, was reunited with its owner, Kevin Villicana, after it had disappeared somewhere, ‘CBS8.com’ reported.

“We heard about this app Finding Rover. We uploaded Sergeant’s picture into that,” said Villicana.

It turned out that Sergeant had been taken to an animal shelter as a stray.

Since the shelter photographed and entered all lost pet into the Finding Rover, Sergeant was found almost instantly.

“About five minutes into the search, I found his picture. I called the shelter to find out if it was him, and it was,” said Villicana
