Microsoft to Launch Cortana on iOS and Android

BENGALURU: The second generation smart band, Band2 and Cortana virtual assistant of Microsoft go well with iOS and Android; except for the voice input feature in Cortana which is supported only in Windows devices. However, the latest update of Microsoft Health app offers voice command support to Android devices as well.

On updating the app, you can engage Cortana by input voice commands into the microphone of the wearable Band 2. It also provides instant notifications about important dates and communications. Microsoft is also bringing the voice assistant on Xbox One which will be available for gamers who have signed up for Xbox Preview program.

The Cortana voice command feature is reported to be available only in US for now, but it is likely to be rolled out in other countries as well. For using this updated feature on Android, users should install the Cortana Android app in their smartphones. It is a welcome update by Microsoft, given the fact that more Android users are- wearing the Band than Windows users. Additionally, the updated Microsoft Health app also features fitness challenges where you can compete with your friends. You can invite your Facebook friends who are users of Microsoft Health to compete with challenges such as cardio score, steps, runs and bike rides.

For fitness freaks, the Microsoft Health App is a great companion. It allows one to set fitness targets and get meaningful insights for a healthy living. The app converts the real-time fitness data collected into simplified graphical representations and charts that can be viewed through the web-based dashboard interface. It also supports customized monitoring for activities such as running, biking, golfing and workouts.
