Messenger Revamps its Interface to Ease Messaging Experience

BENGALURU: Facebook Messenger app musters an immense popularity worldwide which can be observed by the fact that it has over 1 billion downloads on the Google Play Store alone. The company has announced that the app is going through a slight design revamp to include features such as a new home tab, birthday, and favorites section. The underlying focus behind the re-design and embedding of newer capabilities is to make conversations easier and to address the need for sophisticated communication technologies in the current technological context.

The new interface of Messenger will include a Home tab, aimed at making Messenger simple to use by furnishing the most relevant information to a user. The Home tab will show few of the user’s recent messages at the top of the screen when you launch the app. This is followed by a new Favorites section, which displays contacts from your Messenger profile that you have texted most frequently, which is again followed by a Birthdays section. The Birthday section displays the people from your list who have birthdays on any particular day and Messenger prompts you to wish those contacts a happy day.

The Birthday section is further followed by an Active Now section, where the app displays list of people from your contacts currently available online. Moreover, the application also features a Search bar at the top of the screen, which essentially works in a similar manner like the Facebook mobile search itself.

Another interesting recent introduction on Messenger app is the support for SMS messages on Android using the app itself. This integration promises a richer SMS experience, comprising of abilities to send voice-clips, stickers, etc. Facebook confirms the worldwide availability of this feature through an update for all Android users. Furthermore, in tribute to the UEFA Euro 2016 Championship, Messenger has released a new in-app football game called Keepy Up, hidden inside the app. All these new features add up to a brilliant user experience and Messenger is sure to scale new heights as a messaging application.
