Is Microsoft Planning To 'Kill' Windows Phone?

BANGALORE: According to the rumors the Redmond-based company Microsoft may soon remove the Nokia branding and the Windows Phone name from the future smartphones. The forth-coming smartphones will have the ‘Lumia’ name and will be branded by Microsoft, as compiled Business Insider.

Apparently, the recently launched Windows-based lumia phones, the Lumia 830 and the 730 may be the final batch of phones with the ‘Nokia’ branding on them. Microsoft will most probably put all the future smartphone models under one name as Windows and not differentiate them as Windows phones.

However, this could be a part of the idea to sack whole of the Windows operating system and Microsoft may be planning on merging its Windows phone operating system with the desktop one which says that the much rumored Windows 9 may not be developed.

This plan of Microsoft joining its smartphone software with the desktop version of Windows may not be surprising at all. Sometime back, The CEO of Microsoft, Satya Nadella confirmed that all major versions of Windows will sooner or later merge into one giant Windows platform. A Number of rumors and reports about Windows 9 also have suggested that Microsoft is making an effort to further join the different types of software into one.
