India Is Becoming Our Largest Market Overseas, Says Xiaomi CEO Lei Jun

BANGALORE: Xiaomi became the leading smartphone seller in China with its shipments which are more than Samsung, reports Digital Trends.

At the World Internet Conference in China, Lei Jun, CEO of Xiaomi spoke for three minutes about Xiaomi’s unbelievable progress since its creation in 2010. Lei said there are 70 million Xiaomi users at the moment and the number to multiply soon and become 200 million by next year. He was confident about becoming the world’s number one smartphone manufacturer, possibly in just five years.

For a company which is four years old, and works only in Asia, it is remarkable how much Xiaomi has improved.

What’s interesting is Xiaomi’s growth isn’t at the cost of other local brands such as Oppo and Huawei, but at LG, Sony, Samsung and Apple.

Xiaomi has recently launched its products in India, and is expected to have the largest growth in the world by next year. The most recent data of the global smartphone market share shows that Xiaomi holds only 5 percent compared to Samsung’s 25 percent and Apple’s 11 percent.
