Improve Fitness with Pokemon Go

BENGALURU: ‘Pokemon Go’, a GPS enabled mobile game hits 30 million downloads globally and still counting. This augmented reality game has revealed its health benefits. According to Matt Hoffman, Clinical Assistant Professor, Texas A&M College of Nursing, “This quest to "catch 'em all" is great as it pokes people to travel across the land, searching far and wide for a Pokemon resulting in regular exercising.”

Daily about 21 million users (Pokemon Go Trainers) step out to find and catch Pokemon and Pokeball so that they may progress in the game. To hatch Poke eggs, a Pokemon catcher requires more walking which is anywhere between one to six miles. Hoffman says that he spends an hour and two, stalking around the Pokestops to collect items. John Hanke, CEO, Niantic expressed that they have helped users around the world to have fun, socialize and get fit as they play and explore.

The game is minimizing the technology gap between the generations. There are families who go for a walk to play the game together and this helps in improving social experience. Also, people explore those places where they have never been. As safety is first, keep off the game while driving or else the consequences are known. Also, while exploring Pokestops, make sure you look out for any vehicles and be cautious of the dark place, as there has been reports of people getting attacked and robbed.
