Google Plays Its 'Softcard' To Fight The Rival Payment Companies


BENGALURU: In a fast moving world which we live in today mobile payments are supposed to be the epitome of transactions with online medium being the logical and convenient option. But looks like things have gone wrong here. Business Insider reports that mobile payments are still in the premature phase and are yet to hit the mainstream and it will take a couple of years for the technology to become truly accessible.

Though Apple has it’s own payment sphere—Apple Pay it is still remaining loyal to U.S. market for now with possibility of reaching India by end of 2015. Google pioneered the payment market with Wallet but that's come to naught up until now.

Google has an answer in mind to redeem itself in this space and the idea is 'buying your way to stardom' and this is where the search-engine giant is reportedly said to be eyeing Softcard to ease make decisive moves in this arena.

In most cases, Google has managed to hit the right notes but as is the case with Google Glass, the company has its own share of failures and Wallet forms part of the dubious list. With Softcard, Google is looking to become efficient with the technology and giving them right armor to fight it out with rival payment companies.

Since Softcard is already available on Android and if Google manages to poach Softcard then millions of Android users become prospective Softcard users for the search major which will open a definite a whole new revenue stream for them on global map.
