Google Calendar Introduces New Feature for Easy Scheduling of Meetings

BENGALURU: Google announces “Find a Time” feature to its Calendar to make it easier for organizations to schedule meetings, reports tech2 news staff. The update is currently available on Google Play Store and will soon hit the iOS market as well.

To use the new feature, a user has to first select the team members he/she wants to have a meeting with. The user can then click the “find a time” feature and that will show the availability of the selected members—who all will likely be able to attend the meeting. The app also displays alternative times with a note if some members are unavailable. The feature checks the calendar entries of each member and identifies the time slots where all members can attend the meeting.

Google Calendar’s new feature simplifies scheduling meetings according to the convenience of every participant. It removes the hassles of dialing a conference call and checking the calendar of every person to find a suitable time for meeting even if they are located in different time zones. In case there is no suitable time, then the app also suggests the rescheduling of conflicting meetings.

As such, Google Calendar allows users to spend less time in planning by simply integrating with Gmail, contacts, drive and hangouts to feed in the events with their dates respectively. Further, the calendar can be shared among co-workers to schedule events and meetings with complete visibility over their events and busy hours.

“‘Find a time’ makes suggestions, but you're still in control. You can tap to see everyone's schedule at a glance—perfect for making sure the timing works for all. And if you manage someone else's calendar, you can use the feature to schedule meetings on their behalf as well,” says Stella Schieffer, Product Manager, Google.
