Finally, Siri Madam Gets An Indian Accent

BANGALORE: Apple’s Siri couldn’t understand Indian English accent before, soon that’s going to change. The upcoming iOS update will no longer need an American accent for the iPhone users in india, as the update will support English for India along with seven other regional languages, reports Firstpost.

A report by 9to5mac points out that the upcoming iOS 8.3 beta release will allow Siri to also understand Danish, Dutch, Portuguese, Russian, Swedish, Thai and Turkish. The new options are accessible via the Siri settings panel on the iPhone, iPad and iPod touch.

However, the update that supports seven regional languages is overwhelming but those seven languages don’t include Hindi and it is disappointing for Indian iPhone users. Whereas, Google did it with their voice recognition app Translate, Microsoft’s voice-assistant Cortana also has many good features.
