Facebook Is Now The Official Owner Of Whatsapp

BANGALORE: It is been eight months after facebook acquired Whatsapp and now the deal was finally closed for a whopping $21.8 billion, reports Times of India.

WhatsApp co-founder and CEO Jan Koum has joined the Facebook board and will also match Zuckerberg’s annual base salary of $1 without any bonuses.

Facebook now has the right to do whatever it wants with WhatsApp, though the company possibly won't make any changes to the service for a long while.

Facebook has pledged to operate its latest acquisitions, from Instagram to Oculus, largely independently seeing as these companies were already doing so well on their own.

Koum said,"There would have been no partnership between our two companies if we had to compromise on the core principles that will always define our company, our vision and our product."
