Checkout the All New Font Introduced in WhatsApp!

BENGALURU: Lately, WhatsApp has been rolling out a slew of significant updates to fend off competition from rival messaging apps. Now, the Facebook-owned company is testing an alternate font–FixedSys–on both iOS and Android beta versions. Though it is the only alternate font available at present in WhatsApp, the company is expected to launch more in the future.

In order to use the new feature, users will have to put three backquote symbols before and after the text they have entered. For example, when you enter ```SiliconIndia``` in your type box, the text will automatically be converted into the FixedSys font. Well, it might seem tedious to some as the feature is currently hidden in the code.

Way back in March, WhatsApp had introduced different text style updates which enabled users to write in bold, italics or even apply the strikethrough feature. So, for using the bold feature all you need to do is type *bold *, while typing _italic_ will convert your text into italic. To apply strikethrough to the text you entered, just insert a tilde (~) symbol before and after the text.

Other updates which were introduced recently include the quote message feature and end-to-end encryption for PDF and Doc files. WhatsApp will also be launching GIF support to its iOS and Android versions in the coming months. In addition, video calling is another feature that is reportedly in the company’s pipeline.
