4 Pioneers Who Revolutionized The Tech Business

BANGALORE: What do the inventors of popular operating systems, search engines and social networks have in common? They all accomplished these feats before they were 30. The tech world is filled with young visionaries, from Evan Spiegel, the 21 year old founder of Snapchat, to 17 year old Nick D’Aloisio, the founder of the news summarization app Summly.  The financialtimes.com has compiled a list of the most outstanding young visionaries.

Sergey Brin & Larry Page

When Larry Page and Sergey Brin published their seminal paper on internet search engines as students at Stanford University, they included the line “We expect that advertising-funded search engines will be inherently biased towards the advertisers and away from the needs of consumers.”

By the time they dropped out of the PhD program to start their own company, they had no such inhibitions: they ended up creating the largest advertising company on the planet.

Their system of search-related advertising has become one of the main economic engines of the consumer internet industry, and is fighting to carry on as the company expands into the mobile market.

Whether the company will continue to be an internet powerhouse is up in the air, but it is clear that the founders are focused on the long term: Now in their forties, Sergey Brin leads Google X, the experimental division devoted to remote controlled drones, wi fi balloons and wearable technologies, while Larry Page has long been a proponent of driverless cars.
