32 Million Passwords Hacked, Twitter Denies Breach

BENGALURU, KA: An anonymous hacker, who goes by the pseudonym Tessa88, claims to have gained access to over 32 million Twitter accounts and passwords, in what is being deemed to the biggest security breach of recent times.

Leakedsource.com is alleged to have received a copy of leaked data from Tessa88, and have proceeded to publish it on their blog. According to the website, at least 15 people have already verified their passwords published in the data leak to be legit.

Twitter however, has denied the claims, issuing a statement through Reuters stating that it is confident that its systems were not breached.

Leakedsource.com claims the reason for the breach to be the fact that millions of users were infected by a malware, and that this malware sourced the usernames and passwords from browsers like Firefox and Chrome back to the hackers.

The website also goes on to mention a list of the top passwords used by Twitter users, who are likely to have been affected by the malware, and that millions of these hacked passwords are now being traded on the ‘dark web’.

While Twitter continues to deny the story, worried users should look to immediately change their password.
